These Controversial Illustrations Expose The Ugly Side Of Society

Luis Quiles chooses topics of relevance and changes them into pictures with a story in it, and they all depict how ugly the society really is.

Luis Quiles is a Spanish artist who creates quite the controversial illustrations about the very ugly side of society, something that we see most of the times but ignore. According to Earth Porm, Quiles is not afraid of picking topics like sexism, exploitation, violence, and homophobia. He creates art that seems to be completely normal at first glance, but only when you give it a second look do you see the hidden messages in the picture. His art has always been quite controversial because he chooses topics that people don't really want to talk about, and for some, his work sparks a feeling of terror or disgust. Within each of his pieces, there's a story being told, and here are some of his works from QuilesART to observe. What do you think each of these images means?

1. Children are influenced by politicians and adults around them in third world countries and are made to take part in violence even though they don't fully understand it.

2.  Even the cartoon Tweety isn't free when it comes to democracy. Tweety's arrival in Barcelona coincided with the deployment last week of 5,000 police to the Catalonia capital amid growing tensions between Catalan secessionists and the Spanish government, according to The National

3. This can't be stressed enough. Guns are not toys and it is not okay to give them out to the children in third world countries as they have no proper education. It is also not okay to sit in the comfort of your home and give out 'reactions' through social media.

4. Dropping bombs on innocent kids who are playing outside is not how you take revenge on anyone.

5. There's no need to remain silent and take the abuse. It's time for you to speak up and let the world know you've been mistreated, no matter who it is.

6. What may be fantasy to you, is someone else's reality. So be careful before you fetishize something.

7. How is it that one does not have the freedom to express what they really wish to? This was also to show the artist's emotions when some of his pictures were taken off due to complaints of it being slightly pornographic.

8.  Being homophobic has everything to do with you and not the one that's homosexual.

9. The constant need to capture every moment and share it on social media is doing more harm than good. It lets a lot of random people into your life, and ultimately, you are compromising on your safety, as well.

10. CAPITALISM. This clearly shows how all the small fish in the pond is being eaten by the big fish. Do you need a better explanation for this?

11. We give in to our cravings too much, that sometimes we forget just how bad it is for us. Although it can be argued that this illustration is blatantly sexist. Maybe you don't have to be misogynistic while trying to show something "real".

12. Domestic abuse is never okay, and it's never acceptable. You cannot justify your actions with love. It is NOT OKAY to raise your hand against anyone and say it was because of LOVE.

13. What is religion? Religion is definitely not a tool to create yet another homophobic person on earth.

14. You never know what happens behind closed doors. Looks are deceiving, after all!

QuilesART

15. Never let the devil into your soul, there's no way it will leave without taking a piece of you with it forever.

16. Religion will not feed the hungry, only food will.

17. What may seem innocent isn't always the case. You never know what someone is capable of doing. Do not judge someone solely based on looks.

18. Don't be fooled more than once by someone who's let you down in the past. But also recognize that 'crazy' is just someone who is in need of help.

19. It's not okay to objectify women. Tall, short, big, small, fat, thin, fair, or dark, they're women and appreciate them for their soul, and not their rear end.

20. Your addiction to drugs is definitely going to make reality a hard pill to swallow.

21. Are you being controlled way too much by social media?

22. Do not hesitate to grab that wandering hand and twist it. Make sure you put all your pressure on it so it's painful for them, and they think twice before they let their hands wander again.
